Clements Center Celebrates 249th U.S. Marine Corps Birthday
Nov 14, 2024
On November 12th, the Clements Center, in partnership with UT Naval ROTC, hosted a 249th U.S. Marine Corps birthday celebration at the University of Texas Club.
The ceremony featured a color guard and brass quintet performance by the UT School of Music, followed by the traditional cake-cutting ceremony, where the oldest Marine passes the piece of cake to the youngest Marine. This act symbolizes the passing of wisdom, knowledge, and experience as well as trust and confidence in those who will carry on our Marine Corps traditions in the future.
Attendees heard remarks from Clements Center Associate Director Paul Edgar, Clements Center Executive Director Vice Admiral (Ret.) Joe Maguire, and guest of honor General Robert B. Neller, 37th Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps. Among the distinguished guests included Major General (Ret.) Jeannie Leavitt.
It was an honor and a privilege to celebrate this occasion with past, present and future Marines, and the Clements Center Undergraduate Fellows. Happy Birthday USMC and Semper Fi!
