Clements Center Alumni Win Multiple Awards at SHAFR Annual Conference

Mark Lawrence, Clements Center faculty fellow and former Director of Graduate Studies, won the Robert H. Ferrell Book Prize for his recent release The End of Ambition: The United States and the Third World in the Vietnam Era. Mark is currently the Director of the LBJ Presidential Library.

Tommy Jamison, former Clements Center Predoctoral Fellow, won the the 2022 Oxford University Press USA Dissertation Prize for his dissertation “Pacific Wars: Peripheral Conflict and the Making of the U.S. ‘New Navy,’ 1865-1897.” Tommy is currently an Assistant Professor of Strategic Studies at the Naval Postgraduate School Defense Analysis Department in Monterey, California. 

Augusta Dell’Omo, Clements Center Graduate Fellow, was awarded Honorable Mention for the Bernath Scholarly Article Prize for her article “Infernal Handiwork: Trinity Broadcasting Network Aids Apartheid South Africa, 1980-1994,” Diplomatic History 45, no. 4 (September 2021): 767-93, which radically reframes historical treatments of the transnational politics of South African apartheid.
