Naomi Ichiriu

Naomi Ichiriu is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin studying Informatics and International Relations and Global Studies, with a minor in National Security and International  Business and a certificate in Public Policy. She is a research assistant at UT’s Human-AI Interaction Lab, where she develops machine learning frameworks to evaluate AI governance, regulatory risk, and emerging technology policy. At UT’s Center for Media Engagement, she studies how large language models interact with news content and the implications of AI training data for journalism, misinformation, and the information ecosystem. She is also a researcher with Tearline, an Intelligence Studies Project collaboration with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, where she integrates machine learning and automated methods with geospatial data.

She plans to pursue a career in national security law focused on AI governance, cybersecurity, and cross-border technology regulation, with particular interest in strategic competition and policymaking in the Indo-Pacific.
