Joseph Ledford
Clements Center Alumni Joseph Ledford was a 2021-2022 America in the World Consortium Predoctoral Fellow in residence at the Clements Center. During his time at UT-Austin, Joseph finished his dissertation, co-organized the annual AWC Young Scholars Conference, and served as a teaching assistant for Karl Rove’s course on presidential campaigns. Following his fellowship, and after earning his PhD in History from the University of California, Berkeley, Joseph joined the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at Johns Hopkins SAIS as an American in the World Consortium Postdoctoral Fellow. Currently, Joseph is a Hoover Fellow and Assistant Director of the Hoover History Lab at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, where he also holds the role of vice chair for the Applied History Working Group. At Hoover, Joseph is finalizing his first book on the Iran-Contra affair, which derives from his dissertation, and researching U.S. policy in the Western Hemisphere. Based on this work, he recently testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on advancing American interests in the Western Hemisphere.
