Tariq Ahmed
Tariq Ahmed is a senior at The University of Texas at Austin majoring in international relations and global studies with minors in Arabic and government. His interests include foreign and Middle Eastern affairs, international security and law, and public policy. From fall 2022 to winter 2023, Ahmed served as a legislative intern in the Office of State Senator César J. Blanco (SD-29) and as a legislative aide in the Office of State Representative Barbara Gervin-Hawkins (HD-120). In fall 2024, he was a Bill Archer Fellow and interned at the U.S. Department of State in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Office of Press and Public Diplomacy. In spring 2025, he participated in the LBJ Washington Center’s Foreign Policy Semester and interned with the House Foreign Affairs Committee Democrats. He also studied abroad in Jordan this past summer. Ahmed most recently served as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Office of State Representative Barbara Gervin-Hawkins. On campus, he has been involved in the International Relations and Global Studies Council, UT Student Government, and AIESEC. After graduation, he plans to attend graduate school to pursue a career in diplomacy.
