Lieutenant Colonel Antonn V. Simmons
As a part of a military family for most of his life, LTC Antonn V. Simmons grew up on military bases around the world, before returning to his home town of Charleston, SC. His own military service began when he enlisted in the South Carolina Army National Guard in January of 2001. In 2002, upon graduation from the Citadel he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Following his commissioning, he attended the Army’s Rotary Wing Flight School and was awarded the Army Aviator’s Badge in 2004.
As a member of the South Carolina National Guard for more than 20 years, he has been assigned to various positions of increasing responsibility beginning with Platoon Leader, Charlie Co/1-151st Attack Reconnaissance Battalion (ARB); Platoon Leader, Alpha Co/1-151st ARB; Platoon Leader, Bravo Co/1-151st ARB; Company Commander, HHC/1-151st ARB; Company Commander, Charlie Co/1-151st ARB; Assistant S-3, HHC/1-151st ARB; S-3, HHC/1-151st ARB; Executive Officer, HHC/1-151st ARB; Intelligence Officer, 59th Aviation Troop Command, and Commander, 1-151st ARB.
LTC Simmons’ Military Education includes: Initial Entry Rotary Wing (IERW) Qualification, 2003; Aviation Officer Basic Course, 2004; AH-64A Qualification Course, 2004; AH-64D Aircraft Qualification Course, 2006; Aviation Maintenance Managers Course, 2006; Aviation Captains Career Course, 2008; AH-64D Maintenance Test Pilot Course, 2013; Joint Fire Power Course, 2013; CGSOC 2020, Advanced Operations Course 2021 and AH-64E Version 6 Qualification Course.
LTC Simmons’ awards and decorations include: Meritorious Service Medal, Air Medal (4th Award), Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” Device, Army Service Ribbon, Combat Action Badge, and Master Army Aviator Badge.
LTC Simmons holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from The Citadel, as well as a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of South Carolina.
He resides in Columbia, SC with his 2 children – Aaron and Aidan.
