Commander Kevin Barrett, U.S. Navy
Commander Kevin Barrett is a native of El Paso, Texas and a 2004 graduate of the United States Naval Academy with a degree in Quantitative Economics. He graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School in 2005 and earned an MBA from the University of Florida in 2015.
Commander Barrett’s afloat tours include various deployments to the Western Pacific onboard USS GRIDLEY (DDG-101), Carrier Strike Group ONE embarked on USS CARL VINSON, and Carrier Strike Group NINE embarked on USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT. Additionally, he completed an Individual Augmentation deployment with Naval Special Warfare Unit TWO.
Commander Barrett’s shore tours have focused on cyberspace and information operations policy and have included Fleet Cyber Command/TENTH Fleet, Naval Information Operations Command (NIOC) Pensacola/104 Cyber Support Team, and NIOC Maryland supporting the National Security Agency.
Commander Barrett is currently assigned as a Federal Executive Fellow with the Clements Center for National Security at the University of Texas at Austin.
Commander Barrett’s decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy Achievement Medal (two awards) and various service and campaign awards.
