Amber Howard

Amber Howard is the Assistant Director of Student Programs at the Clements Center for National Security. In this role, she oversees a wide range of student-focused initiatives that connect academic learning with professional development in the field of national security. During her time with the Center, she has developed three faculty-led study abroad programs, expanding global learning opportunities for undergraduate students.

Before joining the Clements Center, Amber worked as a program officer for a Palestinian women’s organization in the Old City of Jerusalem, where she supported initiatives related to education, economic development, and community programming. She earned her Master of Arts in Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Texas at Austin, completing a thesis on Palestinian cuisine and agriculture and their relationship to gender, identity, and political movements. While at UT-Austin, she also worked and taught with both the Arabic Program and the Arabic Flagship Program.
