Clements Center Receives $10 Million Gift from the Clements Foundation
Aug 29, 2025
The Clements Center for National Security is honored to announce a $10 million endowment from the William P. Clements Foundation. This generous gift secures the long-term future of the Center and strengthens our mission to prepare the next generation of leaders in national security and public service. The endowment will support our expanding academic and student programs and fund the renovation of the Flawn Academic Center auditorium, which will be renamed the William P. Clements, Jr. Auditorium. The updated space will host Clements Center lectures, conferences, and student events, creating a vibrant hub for national security programming on campus.
Since its founding in 2013, the Clements Center has trained more than 1,000 students through undergraduate and graduate fellowships, study-abroad programs, internships, and mentorship opportunities. Many of these alumni now serve across the military, government, academia, and the private sector in positions that shape American foreign policy and national security.
This gift reflects the Clements Foundation’s continued confidence in the Center’s mission and ensures that UT students will have access to unparalleled opportunities in history, statecraft, and public service for years to come. Coverage in the UT News and the Austin American-Statesman has highlighted both the Clements Foundation’s vision and the Center’s national impact.
