William Newberry

Will, a second-year undergraduate fellow, is a marine-option midshipman in the Naval ROTC

program at the University of Texas. He pursues a major in International Relations,

complemented by a minor in Russian. Will has participated in Project Global Officer–Kyrgyzstan

and undergone indoctrination at Naval Station Great Lakes during his summer training.

He is actively engaged in the Longhorn Special Operations Club, a student organization

committed to preparing future service members for the demanding training requirements of

specialized warfare communities. Will had the honor of representing the Clements Center at a

US Air Force Academy assembly focused on space warfare last fall. Following this event, he led

a Coffee Hour discussion on the subject alongside two other fellows.

In his leisure time, Will cherishes moments spent with his identical twin brother, Buck, who is

also a fellow this year. His primary intellectual passions include international political history, the

origins and execution of war, and stoic philosophy. Will eagerly anticipates growing and learning

in tandem with his fellow undergraduate scholars and the dedicated Clements Center staff.
