Alexis Hoeller

Alexis Hoeller is a rising junior, majoring in International Relations and Global Studies, with a concentration in Mandarin, International Political Economy, and East Asia. Additionally, Alexis is pursuing a certificate in Core Texts and Ideas with the Jefferson Scholars Program. Throughout her time at UT, Alexis has developed an interest in the intersection of national security challenges, cybersecurity, and economic relations between China, countries within the Indo-Pacific, and the United States. Alexis first developed an interest in U.S.-China relations in high school, when she began to learn Mandarin and more about Chinese culture. Due to her initial experiences in the classroom, Alexis intends to pursue international economic law after graduating UT, and to later embark on a career of furthering engagement between the United States and China, via law and economic policy. Outside of the classroom, Alexis currently serves as the President for Texas Spirits for 2023, Peer Mentor and Living Learning Community Resident Assistant for Jefferson Scholars, and on the executive board for Student Conduct Board. Additionally, Alexis conducts research for UT’s Politics of Race and Ethnicity Lab. Aside from her studies, Alexis enjoys yoga and developing her Mandarin skills.
