Graduate Fellows Program

The Clements Graduate Fellows program fosters community and intellectual exchange among doctoral students in history, political science, area studies, and public affairs. The program breaks down artificial disciplinary boundaries, allowing students to learn from one another in the study of foreign policy and national security. It encourages aspiring academics to consider the policy implications of their work and helps future policy professionals skillfully apply academic knowledge, particularly from history.

The program, which consists of approximately 20 graduate students, offers several key opportunities:

  • Regular Meetings: Fellows meet for discussions with distinguished visiting scholars to discuss their careers and research. They also meet over lunch to provide feedback on each other’s scholarly work.
  • Professional Development: Fellows are expected to participate in Clements Center activities, including conferences, lectures, and workshops.
  • Research Support: The center provides short-term research grants for fellows to access key archives in the United States and abroad, such as the National Archives, the Library of Congress, and various presidential libraries.

If you are interested in joining the cohort, please submit your CV and Statement of Purpose.
