Clements summer policy intern Mariam Ahmed at the [br]U.S. Consulate in Edinburgh, Scotland[/br]

Sep 11, 2015

I interned with the State Department at the U.S. Consulate in Edinburgh, Scotland. My work mainly involved researching and reporting on Scotland’s rapidly shifting political landscape. This included tracking media coverage and getting to attend national political campaign events. Debates over Scotland’s role in the United Kingdom, the European Union, and NATO have all dominated the headlines and have major implications for U.S. economic and national security interests. My responsibilities also involved assisting staff with the daily functions of the consular office and helping prepare for meetings with local community organizations.
