“Will Inboden and Bobby Chesney decided quite some time ago that terrorism, including the rise of the Islamic State group, would be a major theme of the University of Texas’ second annual conference on national security, which begins Thursday.

In light of last week’s horrific attacks in Paris, for which the Islamic State has claimed responsibility, that decision proved to be well-timed. Yet it was perhaps not as prescient as it seems.

Inboden, executive director of UT’s Clements Center for National Security, put it this way: ‘It’s a perverse commentary on how bad things are that we were already planning on addressing these issues in a big way.'”
