Undergraduate Fellows attend Hertog Political Studies Program [br]”Lessons of the Iraq War”[/br]

Aug 27, 2014

This week-long, intensive seminar featuring undergraduates, post-graduates, and young professionals analyzed the history of US-Iraq relations, the Gulf War, and the 2003 Iraq War. Seeking to apply the lessons of history in a contemporary strategic context, Jbeily and Han undertook detailed studies of Iraqi reconstruction following the invasion as well as the 2007 troop surge. The students gained valuable, first-hand insights on the decision-making process concerning Iraq by meeting with esteemed scholars, senior policymakers, and other critical actors such as Senator John McCain and General David Patraeus. Upon their return, Jbeily and Han presented their experiences and lessons at a general meeting of the Clements Undergraduate Fellows.
