2018 Texas National Security Forum Highlights and Media Coverage

 

On Friday, November 30, the Clements Center, Strauss Center, and Intelligence Studies Project convened senior policymakers to discuss "The Return of Great Power Competition" at the fifth annual Texas National Security Forum.

The event included panels on Word Order; Russia; Strategies, Tactics, and Tools; and China, all featuring insights from top experts such as former Deputy Secretaries of State Antony Blinken and James Steinberg, former Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Mary Beth Long, and former Supreme Allied Commander-Europe General Philip Breedlove. 

The forum featured a keynote conversation with Senator Richard Burr, Senator Mark Warner, and Senator John Cornyn discussing the Select Committee on Intelligence investigation into Russian active measures:

We also hosted a Special Conversation on Global Threats that featured Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Sue Gordon, Commander of U.S. Special Operations Command (SOCOM) General Raymond Anthony Thomas, and former SOCOM commanders Admiral William McRaven and Admiral Eric Olson:
