We're hiring an Event Photographer

Open to all UT students, we're hiring a part-time event photographer for the Spring 2018 semester.

Job Description: 

Serve as photographer for the Clements Center for National Security at UT-Austin, responsible for capturing high-quality images of events, maintaining a photo library, meeting deadlines, and collaborating with the Program Coordinator. Students will be expected to work around 3-5 hours per week (typically between 12-2pm) at a rate of $16 per hour.

Essential Functions: 

Professionally photograph a wide variety of subjects and events as directed by the Program Coordinator. Photographs will feature distinguished speakers, faculty, and students and be used on the Center’s website, social media, newsletters, and other promotional materials. Events will include book talks, conferences, and panel discussions. Work closely with event organizers before and during each event to ensure high quality and efficiency. Accurately estimate the amount of time and materials needed to produce images depending on assignment. Edit photos using Photoshop. Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications: 

UT-Austin undergraduate or graduate student. Experience in professional digital photography, specifically event photography. Published photographer - online or in print - with experience shooting high action in low light. Ideal candidate will have training in photography, including college courses or technical courses in photography. Must possess own digital camera, lenses, and related equipment. Professional demeanor and appearance. Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Able to work independently and with limited supervision. Ability to use digital camera and related equipment. Must be able to produce acceptable products of high standards for public relations, newsletters and publications, and recognize products which are not up to proper standards.
