Clements Student Professional Development Fund intern Zhelun Chen at AEI in Washington, D.C.

Jul 07, 2016

This summer, the Center funded thirteen students and here is Zhelun Chen’s story.

“This summer I worked as an intern with AEI’s Asian Studies Team.

I have contributed to several major projects on US-China Relations by providing background research, data analysis, and translating Chinese language foreign correspondence. I am also proofreading AEI Scholar Michael Auslin’s new book on Asia and also providing background research for AEI Scholar Dan Blumenthal’s new book on China.

This position has given me unprecedented firsthand experience to see the current political and economic status of the US and China, as well allowing me to gain training to see how public policy recommendations are created and then promoted. This summer working with AEI as an intern, I have demonstrated my ability to find solutions to problems on a deadline.”

During his time at UT-Austin, Zhelun was a student in the Clements Center’s Maymester Study Abroad Program at King’s College London and a Clements Center 2015-2016 Undergraduate Fellow.
