Clements Center Co-sponsors Conference on History and Foreign Policy

May 17, 2013

Policymakers and historians alike have long grappled with these questions, but rarely in a sustained or systematic fashion. The Sanford School of Public Policy at Duke University hosted a conference titled “The Uses of History in Foreign Policy” in mid-May to address these questions. The Clements Center, Strauss Center, Triangle Institute for Security Studies co-sponsored the event.

Clements Center Executive Director William Inboden, Clements Center Director of Graduate Studies Mark Lawrence, affiliated faculty members HW Brands, Frank Gavin and Jeremi Suri, and National Security Fellow Celeste Ward Gventer were key players in the success of the event as they served as panelists and discussants.
