Studying the Vietnam War

Dr. Lawrence, who teaches in the History Department at UT-Austin, writes that “these are boom times for historians of the Vietnam War.” He credits this boom to new documents, new sources, and new scholarship following the fiftieth anniversary of the war. He argues that historians have used these new materials to produce work not only on questions about the U.S. role in Vietnam, but also on viewing the war in global context.
