Student Spotlight: Chris Zimmer interns at the U.S. Embassy in Athens

Chris Zimmer is entering his second year of the Global Policy Studies program at the LBJ School. This summer, Chris is interning with the Department of State at the U.S. Embassy in Athens, Greece, where he works in the Public Diplomacy section. In addition to helping out with grants, organizing public events, and cultural outreach, Chris is drafting speeches for the Ambassador and Foreign Service Officers, note-taking at high-level meetings, and compiling records of public outreach. This opportunity has allowed Chris to learn about career opportunities in the Foreign Service and to understand the various sections and federal agencies working together at Mission Greece. Chris has not missed the opportunities to dust off his Modern Greek, take in the region’s antiquities, and travel the Mediterranean.
