Julian Alin

Julian Alin is a senior double majoring in International Relations and Global Studies as well as Government, with concentrations in International Security and the Middle East. Julian also has minors in Arabic and Economics, and a certificate in Core Texts and Ideas. Outside of class, Julian’s research with Innovations for Peace and Development (IPD) focuses on territorial control and armed conflict in Afghanistan. His personal research abroad has focused on identity politics in the Levant. Julian has studied and worked in Marrakech, Morocco with the Department of State’s National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) and in Amman, Jordan with the Department of Defense’s Arabic Flagship Program (AFP), where he interned with Talent Beyond Boundaries, an NGO focused on refugee resettlement and labor mobility among refugee populations. He has most recently interned at the District Office of Congressman Lloyd Doggett. Julian has been also a Brumley Undergraduate Scholar with the Strauss Center for International Security and Law, an Arabic Flagship Program scholar, and a Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) award recipient. Julian is an avid language learner and enjoys cooking, playing soccer, and watching TV in his free time.
