In her passing, our university, state, and nation have lost a woman of singular accomplishment and purpose. As the devoted wife and partner of our center’s namesake Bill Clements, she shared his patriotism, love of history, and commitment to service. She was an elegant First Lady of Texas, a distinguished Regent of the University of Texas, a visionary matriarch of the Texas Republican Party, and a philanthropist of uncommon generosity. Countless institutions benefitted from her vision and gracious touch. Anyone who was blessed to work with her can testify that to know her was to be inspired by her.
