Clements Center Welcomes UT Harrington Fellow, Dr. Charlie Lederman

Sep 12, 2016

The Harrington Fellowship supports gifted and ambitious scholars from around the world, bringing them to The University of Texas at Austin for a year of research and collaboration. Fellowships are awarded annually to the most highly qualified applicants from universities throughout the United States and around the world. This year the Clements Center was honored with the privilege of nominating one scholar for a Harrington Fellowship. We’re excited to welcome Charlie to the Clements Center’s intellectual community.

Dr. Laderman joins us from Peterhouse College, Cambridge University where he was a Research Fellow and an Affiliated Lecturer at the Department of Politics and International Studies. His research focuses on 19th and 20th century America and its relations with the wider world, with an emphasis on the intersection between U.S. and International History, the interconnection between U.S. foreign policy and domestic politics, and the relationship between imperialism, humanitarianism and liberal internationalism. He was previously a Fox International Fellow at the Whitney and Betty Macmillan Center for International and Area Studies, and Smith Richardson Fellow in International Security Studies, both at Yale University, and an AHRC Fellow at the Kluge Center, Library of Congress. Dr. Laderman was also a participant in the Clements Center’s 2014 Summer Seminar in History and Statecraft.
