Associate Director Paul D. Miller speaks at Duke University

 During the talk, Dr. Miller touched on points from his new book American Power and Liberal Order: A Conservative Internationalist Grand Strategy (Georgetown University Press 2016), asking “what I worry about is that the liberal order has been eroded—and it will continue to erode certainly in the first part of the Trump administration. By the time we get to an inflection point, how hard is it going to be to rebuild and will it be possible to rebuild?”

Drawing on his experience working at Central Intelligence and the National Security Council, Dr. Miller highlighted the necessity of renewed focus on America’s war in Afghanistan, adding “I still think the war in Afghanistan is important, just and winnable.”
