Clements Undergraduate and Graduate Fellows: What’s next?

Undergraduate Fellow Mark Jbeily: Ensign Mark K. Jbeily will be pursuing a Master of Philosophy in International Relations at the University of Oxford as a 2015 Marshall Scholar. Ensign Jbeily’s research will focus on reforming national security structures to counter non-traditional security threats like terrorism, global pandemics, and climate change. Upon completion of graduate study, Ensign Jbeily will report to Naval Air Station Pensacola for training as a Naval Aviator.

Graduate Fellow Ben Griffin: Ben Griffin is a PhD Candidate in the History Department, and his dissertation will explore the role of fiction in crafting strategy by examining the role of Tom Clancy novels in Ronald Reagan’s strategic thinking. He is also an active duty Army Captain currently assigned to the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY. Starting this fall at the academy, he will work as an instructor in the History Department, teaching a seminar that provides cadets with a broad overview of United States History.

Graduate Fellow James Martin: James Martin is an active duty Signal Corps officer who graduated with a Master of Arts in History and will be pursuing a PhD. His dissertation will examine U.S.-Latin American relations during the Nixon presidency. His follow on assignment is to the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY where he will be teaching an introductory seminar on post-colonial Latin American history. In addition to his doctoral research, James is also exploring the history of transoceanic cable regulation in the United States.
