Clements Center sponsors student participation in “Exercise Nine Innings” in Quantico, Virginia

Apr 20, 2015

“Nine Innings” is a two-week interagency policy exercise focusing on security challenges in Southeast Asia.  Conducted in partnership with United States Pacific Command (PACOM), it involves over 300 military officers and civilian national security officials in developing a strategic plan for the United States’ role in the region. For the second year in a row, UT-Austin is the only civilian university participating in the exercise. The 16 students are enrolled in Clements Center Executive Director Will Inboden’s class on “President Leadership and National Security” at the LBJ School of Public Affairs. Their “Nine Innings” participation is a major component of the class, and represents a singular opportunity for the students to work alongside military officers and gain firsthand policy experience.
