Sep 25, 2014

Academic credit will be awarded by UT’s Department of History and the course will count towards the International Security concentration in the International Relations and Global Studies major. The course will explore the history of diplomatic and military thought in the United Kingdom and how it historically shaped, and continues to shape, American national security policy today. Students will gain a unique perspective on the myriad and profound ways in which British thinking about geostrategy, foreign policy, and military affairs influenced the development of the ideas that have shaped the U.S. role in the world over the past century, and especially since the Second World War.

London will provide the backdrop for the program and will offer students a distinct view on what has become known as the “Special Relationship” between the United States and United Kingdom. UT professors and the world-renowned faculty of KCL’s War Studies Department will teach the course on KCL’s Strand campus. The campus is located in the well-appointed area along the River Thames very near the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

UT sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are excelling in their field of study are highly encouraged to apply for this program. Although credit will be awarded by the History Department, the program is open to students from majors across campus such as International Relations and Global Studies, Plan II, and Government.

The program cost is $1,200 and scholarships are available. For more information and an application, please visit the program page.
